My passion for online safety started in 2018 when I worked at Snapchat on its law enforcement response team.

As a Law Enforcement Response Specialist, I processed all forms of legal process including search warrants, subpoenas, emergency disclosure requests, civil requests, and preservation requests, helping law enforcement with their investigations and protecting user data privacy. Besides enforcing and changing tech policies, I wondered how else I could help people who were exposed to the dark sides of the Internet.

Seeing a gap in mental health support for trust and safety professionals, I started my own business, The Elevated Empath, to support those exposed to digital crimes as they worked to keep platforms safe. I attracted clients in “digital first responder” roles who experienced vicarious trauma from their jobs. I even started my own podcast, interviewing experts on these issues. I was able to resolve what I had witnessed in my law enforcement role through helping others understand their PTSD better. After building my own brand The Elevated Empath, I continued to help other creators and companies optimize their social engagement, marketing strategies, and communication efforts.

To better understand online safety issues from a legal perspective, I pursued a Masters in Legal Studies at UCLA specializing in Technology Law & Policy. Through this program, I expanded on my technology law expertise, research, and writing skills. I focused my research on the impact of Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act on social media moderation and AI as well as intellectual property law, privacy and cybersecurity, and crisis emergency protocols for social media moderation.

As a Research Assistant for UCLA’s Institute for Technology Law & Policy, I designed and reported on research projects detailing the impact of AI on algorithmic bias, deepfake technology, and policy suggestions for technology companies on how to implement new legislation regarding content moderation. Since graduating, I have continued to research new technology legislation and published articles and podcast episodes on my research.

After building my tech law experience and education, I returned to law enforcement response by joining ZG Subpoena Solutions as a Legal Analyst in June 2024 to support multiple tech clients with their legal requests for user data.

Alongside my experience in technology law & policy, I have several years of experience in social media, influencer marketing, crisis communications, and entrepreneurship. This diverse background allows me to navigate the complex intersection of technology, policy, and strategic communications. I love compiling and analyzing data, researching complex technology law, optimizing external communications and social engagement, working cross-functionally between legal and engineering teams, implementing new policies, and crafting creative solutions to developing technologies.
